Dental Denture

Complete and Partial Dentures

Complete Dentures replace all teeth within the upper or lower arch. Partial dentures are fabricated for patients who have lost only some of their teeth within an arch and have a number of natural teeth remaining.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are composed of pink acrylic (which replicates the look of the gums) and white acrylic teeth. The acrylic base of the denture makes intimate contact with the gums to provide suction for retention and stability for tooth support during chewing.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are more complex compared to complete dentures. Like complete dentures, they have pink acrylic “gum” and white acrylic “tooth” components. However, partial dentures also have cast metal components like “rests” and “clasps” that anchor the denture to some or all of your remaining natural teeth.

Both complete and partial dentures require removal following meals and at nighttime to facilitate cleaning of gums and remaining teeth. Dr. Hornby will review all maintenance and hygiene instructions to enable you to maintain good oral hygiene and keep your dentures functioning properly.
